Smoking is a disease of today’s societies all over the words. Every day thousands of people take the decision to quit smoking and head the hard path to achieving this aim. There are plenty of methods to help you – self-determination, medical products, attending a self-help group such as Nicotine Anonymous, alternative medicine, hypnosis, exercising, etc. one of the latest methods in treating the smoking addiction is joining a quit smoking laser program.

Lasers are used for addiction treatment (alcohol, drugs, nicotine) for many years in Europe, The United States and Canada. In brief the way, it works it the follows: low-level laser is used to stimulate the nerve endings. It is the same ancient principle of acupuncture. Lasers are applied to specific points on your hands, ears and face. The laser stimulates endomorphin production. Endomorphins are hormones found in the human body. They are generally responsible for the feel-good experience of any person. The increased level of endomorphins thus will help you fight the desire to smoke, the depression that sometimes goes along with the smoking cessation.

Quit smoking laser programs usually take up to two weeks. The program usually has two stages – initial stage during the first 72 hours that is the detoxification stage and second level during the rest of the time to diminish the stress and cravings you are likely to experience. Each session is approximately half an hour long. The treatment is painless and non-invasive (the laser goes through your skin). People usually describe the feeling as warm and pulsating. Most of the people that have been through such a program describe each laser sessions as pleasant and relaxing experience.

Although laser treatment is considered non-medical treatment, you should get advice from your doctor if it is right for you. For example, a quit smoking laser program might not be suitable for you if you are pregnant, use a pace maker, have epilepsy, blockages or active cancers.

You can find plenty of quit smoking programs online. Your doctor can also give you a list of the recommended treatment centers. You should know that your medical insurance is likely not to cover such program. The cost of quit smoking laser programs vary but it is usually very reasonable and it is always good to spend your money on treatment than on packs of cigarettes that will ruin your health.

A quit smoking laser program cannot give you guaranteed results. It can help the physical symptoms of smoking cessation but you will still have to fight the mental ones by yourself. Smoking is not only a physical condition but also a lifestyle habit of yours. You will still need to put extra effort in changing your daily routines to help you quit smoking.
